About the Artist

I’m Dita Zayas, a Puerto Rican artist and metalsmith. I grew up in Corozal, a place where landscape, memory, and Caribbean culture exist in constant conversation—and that environment deeply informs the way I create.

I work primarily with wire and metal, malleable materials that allow me to explore the balance between the organic and the sculptural. Each piece is conceived as an extension of the body—not merely as an ornament, but as an object that accompanies, protects, and connects with the energy of the person who wears it.

My work draws from Puerto Rican and broader Caribbean culture, reinterpreted through a contemporary lens. I’m interested in giving continuity to ancestral references, transforming them without losing their essence, and shaping them into pieces that feel alive, personal, and timeless.

Every creation is handmade with intention and respect for process, celebrating identity, strength, and the beauty that lives within every body.
