I created "La Santurcina" inspired by the handcrafted hydraulic tiles that became popular in Puerto Rico in the late 19th century. Since then they have become enduring symbols of Puerto Rican architecture and cultural identity. 

In this interpretation, I incorporated delicate shells to add a Caribbean, organic sensibility.
