One day, I sat across from the Santa María Magdalena de Pazzis cemetery in Old San Juan, observing the sculptures and the tombs dedicated to both known and unknown individuals. I thought about the importance of revisiting—if only through memory—the lives of those who are no longer here, yet shaped the path that allows us to exist today.

These pieces echo the dome of a mausoleum, adorned with ajé (shells), as a reminder of an ongoing connection with those who no longer inhabit this physical plane.
